In 1986 Jim left his position as President of the Metals Division of ME International to purchase a small gear company from Charles Doppler.

In 1998 Jim Bregi, Jr. became President of Doppler Gear Company. He holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas, has served as a Director for multiple organizations, and is currently on the Executive Committee of the American Gear Manufacturers Association.

The company has continued to grow and now operates 4 manufacturing facilities in two states to serve a wide assortment of industries including construction, recreational vehicles, torque multiplication, and OEM equipment manufacturers.

Ben F. Bregi began in the gear production field in 1931 at Michigan Tool. In 1933 he moved to National Broach and Machine Company. He received his mechanical engineering degree in 1937 and his PhD in 1966. He rose through the ranks from tool engineer at National Broach to President of the company.

James F. Bregi, Sr. received his Mechanical Engineering degree from Michigan Technological University. He began his career at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI and later took an executive position at Minneapolis Electric Steel Casting Company.
